Lotion is underrated

i look up at the sign
in the train station
sheepshead bay
9th ave to the south bronx
and the kid is so smoked out
his face so gray and ashy at the time
it would be years before i learned
the value of a good lotion
organic if possible
the ability to glisten
is so highly underrated

i could slide right down these rails
with my slickness glistenin'
my chrome features visible
right out to a small farm
in france or in africa
i'll be an asiatic african
on a farm in eastern europe

there's some kind of self absorbed quest
a man could live or die to get
just one second ahead
of his next late great footfall
